It is a municipality with a long history. In fact, the old town of Teulada was once surrounded by walls. Its old town still houses the Gothic-style church-fortress of Santa Catalina, designed to protect the inhabitants of Teulada from attacks by Berber pirates.

It also has a long tradition of wine production, as evidenced by its many vineyards. The production of wine includes sweet wines, especially Moscatel and the white Marina Alta.

The most touristic area of Teulada is located on the coast, in Moraira. It is an important tourist centre on the Costa Blanca, famous for its eight kilometres of beautiful beaches and coves with fine sand, such as those of Platgetes, Portet or L'Ampolla with its keep known as the Castle of Moraira.

Its natural harbour, as well as the beautiful surrounding coastline, is the ideal setting for sports such as diving, sailing or cycling.
